The Opportunity:

As the Utility Engineer you will work as part of the Infrastructure and Capital Planning Branch of Engineering Services and will report to the Infrastructure Manager. You will be responsible for the development of short and long term plans addressing continued development, future expansions and rehabilitation of the City of St. Albert’s water, sanitary and storm utility systems and their associated appurtenances. You will be responsible for development and project management associated with all Utility Capital Programs including the provision of effective professional/technical design preparation and reviews, strategic planning, policy development, financial and program planning, hiring and management of consultants along with all associated project public communications. This position may be required to analyze and assess the efficacy of additional utility services (i.e. gas and electricity).

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of analytical experience in municipal utility design, construction and operations.
  • Prior experience identify potential issues relating to the city’s infrastructure, proposing solutions, perform assessments and justify recommendations.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite, internet applications, GIS systems, and computer simulation programs for water, sanitary and storm systems are essential.

Hours of Work:

Compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

Salary Range:

$72,324 - $87,993 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package.
