The Engineering Transportation Branch works to provide a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system that supports all modes of travel and user groups and promotes sustainability within the active community of St. Albert.  

Some of our responsibilities include:

  • Road and sidewalk maintenance
  • Permits for on street construction, street events, and large loads
  • Traffic signs and pavement markings
  • Traffic signals and traffic safety
  • Construction planning and policies
  • Pedestrian and cycling issues
  • On-street parking management
  • Vehicle Collision Data Collection and Reporting
  • Development and maintenance of the Traffic Bylaw
  • Monitoring traffic count volumes/speed
  • Safety awareness
  • Bridge evaluation and maintenance coordination
  • Transportation systems management using Pavement Management System to maintain and develop rehabilitative and maintenance strategies
