Resident Tips
This is how some residents are helping to keep our City green. Through the words of our residents these are some easy tips so you can too keep St. Albert green!
"To
minimize fuel consumption when dropping recycables, accumulate enough
recycle material to make the trip worthwhile. Combine your recycling
trip with other errands in the area - Servus Credit Union Place is just
down the road. So, if you go for a swim, skate or run, drop off your
recycling first! Park your car (with the engine off) at one end of the
bin line so you can walk each type of recyclable material to its proper
location. An idling engine wastes a significant amount of fuel."

If
you share a driveway or your driveway is adjacent to your neighbour,
consider making arrangements to place your garbage bags on one side of
the shared driveway or on one neighbour's driveway."
"This could reduce the number of stops and starts the garbage trucks have to make on our streets by 50%."
- Fred
"When I am running the tap to get hot water or cold, I put a jug to capture all the otherwise wasted potable water. I then use this to fill the dog's water dish or water plants around the house."
"I save greeting card envelopes to reuse when my young daughters want to 'send a letter'. Many people don't even put a name on the envelope in the first place, so it is like new. If there is a name, we just put a sticker or 2 over it and readdress it. My girls like to decorate them anyway!"
