Like any corporation, the City is both a seller and buyer of goods and services. The City of St. Albert purchases in excess of $20M of goods and services annually. The City promotes the competitive process wherever possible and practical.
Purchasing Services is committed to the establishment and maintenance of ethical standards and professionalism for all City purchasing activities. Our objective is to ensure that purchases made by the City are at the lowest possible price in consideration of quality, availability and urgency of demand while guaranteeing that all vendors are treated in a fair and like manner.
It is also the belief of Purchasing Services that the strength of the business community, and therefore the greatest benefit to the City as a customer, lies in its members ability to compete and succeed in an even, competitive environment. It is our intention to foster and sustain the 'level playing field' concept for all vendors wishing to provide goods or services to the City of St. Albert.
The City of St. Albert maintains membership in the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (P.M.A.C.) and the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (N.I.G.P.). The City recognizes the educational programs and subscribes to the codes of ethics of both organizations.
