St. Albert Senior Homeowners Property Tax Assistance Grant Program

  • This program provides eligible seniors with a $100 flat grant.  Only one cheque per household is issued.
  • There is no requirement for the seniors to apply to the City to receive the funding, as it comes automatically from the Province of Alberta in conjunction with the Alberta Seniors Benefit cheques.  The City’s grant is listed and identified as a separate item on each cheque.  Most cheques are delivered in June or July.
  • Qualification for the program is based on age, income and home ownership.  A St.Albert senior will be eligible for a property tax grant if he/she, as of May 1 of 2011:
  • is 65 years of age or older;
  • resides in St. Albert;
  • owns a residential property in St. Albert; and
  • is eligible for the Alberta Seniors Benefit program.
  • The Alberta Seniors Benefit (ASB) is a program offered by the Alberta Provincial Government that provides lower income seniors with financial assistance.  This program is based on income and age qualifications.
  • For more information on the ASB program or the grant, or if a senior believes he/she is eligible and did not receive a cheque, they can call 780-427-7876 or visit www.seniors.gov.ab.ca.
