Neighbourhood Development |
The Neighbourhood Development initiative is a City, community and police partnership that encourages citizens to become actively involved in addressing local issues to help make their neighbourhoods safer. Strong communities are those that rely on their own resources.
Each resident from the youngest to the oldest has a need to be cared for and nurtured, and at the same time each one has the ability and responsibility to contribute back to their community. Neighbourhoods are most powerful when they take collective action.
Goals:
- To increase feelings of safety and security for neighbourhood residents;
- To foster healthy and safe communities by promoting participation in crime prevention activities at a community level;
- To decrease levels of crime; and
- To increase citizen engagement and connectivity.
