Levasseur Dog Park
Levasseur Dog Park - Update
Project Title
Levasseur Dog Park
Project Description
The Levasseur Dog Park Open House was held on February 24 at Sir George Simpson School, with 102 people (and 4 dogs) in attendance. A survey form was available at the open house and online for residents to complete. 123 survey responses were received, with 85.7% of the respondents indicating they supported the development of a dog park, and of those, 48.8% of those supported Option 1. This option provides a chain link fence, screen plantings, park amenities and furniture, and passive open play space for the dogs. As a result of the feedback from the residents, Administration is proceeding with the development of this option.
City Administration will continue to keep the community advised of the development, and will ensure the final plan incorporates features that will ensure the safety of the residents and dogs, consider the aesthetics of the fence line, provide additional plantings to create a privacy and noise barrier for the residents, and will provide access and egress points for foot traffic.
Project Location
The proposed dog park will be located on the south side of Levasseur Road from Hudson Road to 170 Street, along the AltaLink power line right-of-way.

Project Timeline
On August 30 Administration will present to Council the final detailed design, and will also provide the Direct Control Development Permit, crossing agreements with ATCO and Fortis, and an Alta Link License of Occupation; all of these documents require Council approval. If the permit, agreements, and license of occupation are approved, Administration will proceed with construction of the Dog Park, which is planned to be completed by the November, 2010.
