Idle-Free Resources

Did you know that school parking lots and drop-off zones are common idling spots? The City's Office of Environment encourages schools to develop projects to get the idle-free message out to their school community. The Office of Environment has produced idle-free resources for schools to use, such as information postcards, posters, vehicle decals and tattoos. The City is also making its idle-free banners available for borrowing to schools who wish to spread the message in a big way by displaying it on the school building. To discuss these opportunities further, please call the Office of Environment at 780-459-1735 or email mmyers@st-albert.net.

Idling Project Case Study

In the fall of 2008, the City of St. Albert partnered with J. J. Nearing Elementary School to promote the idle-free message. Grade four classes at J. J. Nearing initiated an idling project at the beginning of the school year and gathered information on the number of cars idling in front of the school and the length of time they remained idling. The City offered the school several resources to spread the idle-free message.
