Invasive Plants

Help the City of St. Albert control invasive plants/weeds in our community!

An invasive plant is a non-native plant that spreads easily, aggressively and may displace or alter natural plant communities.

As per the Alberta Weed Control Act, municipalities are required to control the spread of noxious weeds. The City is dedicated to the care of parks and open spaces in the community. As we work to control invasive plants/weeds, we do our best to handle this in ways that do not affect other plants and surrounding areas.

The City has identified ten noxious weeds in the community. Through the Citylights feature, Weed of the Week, the City has identified where the weeds can be found, how to identify them, how the City is controlling them and what you can do to help.
