Automated Household Waste and Curbside Organic and Yard Waste Collection 
In 2008, the City conducted a review of St. Albert's solid waste management system. The Solid Waste Management System Review report summarizes existing waste management programs in St. Albert and provides detailed information and comparisons to other municipalities in Alberta and across Canada. The report also provides recommendations and outlines options to refine and expand the City's solid waste management system.

From recommendations outlined in the Solid Waste Management Review report, Council approved the implementation of improvements to the City's Pay-As-You-Throw program, as well as the implementation of full curbside recycling which commenced July 1, 2009. Recently Council approved the implementation of automated household waste and curbside organic and yard waste collection by spring 2011.
