Call for Illuminate Roving Artists

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 18, 2024 AT 11:59 P.M.

We are searching for youth actors, interested in trying their hand at roving as a character, in order to delight and entertain passers-by at the 7th Annual Illuminate on July 6th, 2024.

An enchanting evening of youth artwork, Illuminate features poets, writers, photographers, musicians and visual art spread throughout the trails along the river behind St. Albert Place. And for the first time this year, we are hoping to add young roving artists.

Amplify then invites all residents to stroll through the park, discovering the talents of our young, local artists.

What is a roving artist?

Roving entertainment involves artists interacting and performing to groups of patrons. These are not full acts, but improvsed walk-by entertainment where the artists 'roam' or 'rove' around the event site. Think stiltwalkers, or the characters you see along the trails at Children's Festival. They might have an elaborate costumes, perform short acts like card tricks or juggling or have a comical character that surprises and delights passers-by.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Artists must be between Grade 7 to age 21
  • Open to St. Albert and area residents
  • Roving character must be suitable for all ages to enjoy

Please describe the kind of roving character you’d like to bring to Illuminate? This should include costuming, tricks or skill (juggling, card tricks, etc.) and what the character would be doing along the trails.
