Fountain Park Recreation Centre will close from July 2 to late August to complete necessary warranty repairs from major lifecycle work completed in 2023.   

During the closure, all warranty deficiencies will be addressed including localized tile defects that requires full drainage of the pool basins and prolonged curing times, as well as electrical adjustments, painting touch-ups and other deficiency items that may develop prior to the planned closure.  

The City understands another closure is disheartening to facility users and appreciates their patience while this necessary work is completed. Warranty work is standard in large-scale construction projects and protects the City’s investment in Fountain Park Recreation Centre for years to come.  

The City’s top priority is keeping our employees and patrons safe within our facilities. There are absolutely no risks to the public as a result of the warranty work needing to take place. Users can safely use the facility from now until the planned closure.   

The repair work and adjustments cannot be completed during a regular non-operational period of the facility. The timing of this closure is planned strategically to reduce impacts on regularly scheduled programming.   

Limited summer drop-in classes and aquatics programs will be relocated to other City aquatics facilities. More information will be available this spring about affected summer aquatics programs. Fall aquatics programs are planned to resume at Fountain Park Recreation Centre in September.
