2011 Solid Waste Changes
Winter Collection for Organics
Please be advised that winter collection is now under way. Solid Waste (brown) and organics (green) bins will only be collected every two weeks. Blue bag recycling will continue to be picked up every week.
Please visit www.stalbert.ca/refuse-collection-schedule to view the schedule. For any questions please contact Public Works at 780-459-1557.
Caring for Your Organics Cart
If you choose to use bags in your organics cart, you must use compostable bags. These bags are usually a light green colour and must have the BPI or Compostable logos on them. If you prefer not to use bags, the City of St. Albert recommends lining the bottom of your cart with cardboard or newspaper to prevent material from getting stuck.
Using the wrong type of bags, such as biodegradable bags, will result in contamination of the loads. These bags are not accepted in the curbside organics program and may look like one of the bags below.

Please do not put garbage or overfill your organics cart. If you do not have enough room in your waste cart, call the City to increase your subscription level.
If you have questions or comments about the City of St. Albert's Solid Waste Program, please e-mail wastewise@st-albert.net.

Do You Have Extra Bag Tags?
Residents can still use their extra blue bag tags (or purchase yellow bag tags) if they have extra garbage above their subscription levels; however, the bags will not be picked up at the curb. The City of St. Albert has set up a waste bin at the Recycling Depot on Chevigny Street at which residents can dispose of their additional bags of waste (providing they are properly tagged). Hold on to any excess blue bag tags as they will not expire.
